WHERE ARE THEY NOW Part 5 by Art Koch

                It’s a long way from Moline to L.A. but in 1978 Lisa De Leeuw hit the porn scene and for the next ten years was one of the most popular, names, faces and bodies in porn doing over 200 films. Overweight when she got to L.A. she went on a strict vitamin regimen and became a very busty, red headed vixen that lit up the screen. She began her career doing scenes for the Swedish Erotica series. Then she moved on to regular films like her debut, 800 Fantasy Lane and then Amanda By Night, I Like To Watch, The Cheerleaders, Eight To Four, Raw Talent, Blonde Heat and more. She was a decent actress, but always was known for adlibbing other lines rather than the ones written. Sexually she had few boundaries and could do a sex scene with a guy as well as another female. During her career Lisa won four Best Supporting Actress awards among others and was honored with inductions into the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame. Lisa De Leeuw died in November 1993 at the age of 35.

                Definitely one of the more creative personalities of the porn industry Annie Sprinkles has literally covered every area of the adult industry in her long career. She did her first porn film in 1975 “Teenage Cover Girl” and went on to do about 200 films in her career. Always a very sexual female from a young age it showed in her films and later. She left adult films in the 1980’s went on to get a Ph D in Human Sexuality. For years she has been touring with her one woman show under various titles and themes, but always based on sexuality and even to the point of inviting audience members to take part. Her work, films and writings have become part of college course and in 1991 she began the Sluts and Goddesses Workshop that was the basis for a 1992 best selling video. Annie has appeared on HBO’s Real Sex several times and produced, directed and starred in her own film “Annie Sprinkles Herstory of Porn”. At 54, and after more than 30 years in the business, Annie Sprinkles is still very active doing seminars, writing, personal appearances, doing her one woman show and still in demand and doing pretty well.

                As a young girl she lost her mother in a car accident and shortly after her father died of heart disease, but Amber Lynn persevered and in the early 80’s began to make a name for herself with nude layouts in magazines like Hustler, Penthouse, Club and High Society among them. >From there she ventured into adult films with the help and guidance of her friends, adult stars Ginger Lynn (no relation) and Porsche Lynn. She made her porn debut in 1984 in “Personal Touch 3”. While many of her films became big sellers and popular, ion 1989 she began going on tour as a feature dancer in top gentlemen’s clubs and was one of the highest earning adult stars of the time. She became a very vocal organizer of children’s charities, made a film comeback for a few years in the mid 90’s. Today at 43, Amber Lynn looks better than ever and is back out on the road with a new comeback dance tour. There will also be some compilations of her early film work being released this year.

                While her whereabouts and what she is doing today are unknown, Jesie St. James was one of the big stars of porn in the 1970’s and 80’s. She began in 1975 doing loops and small parts but in 1978 she reached full stardom with her role in “Easy” with the fingernail butter scene that is still talked about today. Jesie went on to star and feature in many other top films like “Nurses of the 407^th (one very clever takeoff on the TV show M*A*S*H in which Jesie played her version of Hot Lips), “Insatiable” and “Talk Dirty To Me” were among some of the top films she appeared in. Her blonde haired California girl look was unmistakable as was her sensual sex scenes. She continued in the business until the late 1980’s and then dropped out. She did return for a short while in the early 90’s, then left the business for good. Now a mature 54, Jesie St. James will always be remembered by fans of porn’s golden age.

                When porn came along in the 1970’s it broke a lot of barriers, not only with hardcore sex, but in the area of talent where it was white, black, Latin, Oriental, etc. in 1976, porn gave them first Oriental star in Hawaiian/Asian Linda Wong. It didn’t take fans long to be drawn to her exotic looks, great body and smoldering sexuality. She made her debut in the “Oriental Babysitter” and then followed that starring with Georgina Spelvin and John Holmes in “Jade Pussycat” and then went on to do a number of good films until she dropped out of the industry in 1981. During her time doing films she also appeared Playboy twice, 1997 and 1980. Fours year after retiring, Linda decided to come back with a film titled “The Erotic World of Linda Wong” that had some success, but Linda was out of shape and facing some personal issues and dropped out again. Linda Wong was a tremendous performer and will always be known as porn’s first Oriental star. A member of the XRCO Hall of Fame, she died in 1987 at the age of 36.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Part 4 By Art Koch

              Not many young ladies can come into porn and only make a handful of films and wind up being in both the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame. However, that is exactly what Candida Royalle has done. She came into porn as an actress in the late ‘70’s, had star quality, but in 1980 she decided to go from in front of the camera to behind it. She formed Femme Productions to make porn films that were geared towards women and couples and became an immediate success. In addition, she also created a very specific adult products. Very well educated with a couple of degrees from NYU, Candida, who is now 57, is also a member of the American Association of Sex Educators and Therapists. Today more than 25 years later Femme Productions is still going strong as is her product line, both distributed by Adam & Eve. It is because of her trailblazing with Femme Productions, that Candida Royalle is most deserving of being both halls of fame.

Coming from New Hampshire and with a trained background in ballet as dancer with the new Hampshire Ballet and then the American Ballet Company in New York City, Viper was definitely a different adult performer. After not getting beyond a supporting dancer she joined the Marines and after six years was discharged for having sex with her superior officers. In 1986 porn came calling and she was off and running, her trademark snake morphing into a tiger and back to a snake tattoo her very identifiable calling card. She did more than 70 films and won a Best Supporting Actress award for the film “Mystery of the Golden Lotus” in 1990. However in 1991 she left her L.A. home and sometime later her ID was found on a gravestone in Arkansas and Viper, who would be 48, has never been seen or heard from since.

One of the most popular names in porn in the 70’s and early 80’s was actually a Wall Street representative and also did PR for Elektra Records prior to entering porn. Gloria Leonard made an immediate impact with her roles in “The Trouble With Young Stuff” and the classic “The Opening of Misty Beethoven” and “All About Gloria Leonard”. Tall, busty, dark haired with a sultry look, Gloria quickly became a fan favorite. After retiring from porn films she spent the next 14 years as publisher of High Society magazine and was also responsible for pioneering phone sex even battling all the way to the Supreme Court and winning. She won a Best Actress award for her role in “Taboo, American Style and married porn stud and director Bobby Hollander, divorcing him in 1990 and is a past president of the Free Speech Coalition. Today Gloria Leonard is a worthy member of both the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame, a young 67 and living a nice retired life in Hawaii.

She was an MILF in porn long before the genre became popular, but age 36 Ona Zee made an immediate impact on film with her smoldering looks, sexuality and maturity. Former mainstream model with layouts in magazines like Cosmo, Ona made a name for herself in the 1988 film “Our Dinner With Andrea” and would go on to win two Best Actress awards and a Best Supporting Actress award. In a career that spanned over 20 years Ona did over 300 films. She also setup her own production company in 1990 with her then husband Frank and directed, as well as appeared in, more than 50 films.Like a few female performers, Ona was always more comfortable with male co stars who were fifteen or twenty years younger than her. She also moved into the bondage arena with several films and was not against performing with bisexual men or women. In many ways Ona Zee was a trail blazer in the industry that she left in 2005. Today Ona looking as fit and sexy at age 54 as she did 20 years ago, is with Coldwell Banker selling real estate and also markets her own jewelry line.

She came out of Indianapolis, Indiana, is of Irish and Cherokee Indian heritage, got heavily involved in the rock music scene with her own band Vision Quest. But from 1983 until the very early ‘90’s Hyapatia Lee was one of the top names in porn putting out some excellent blockbuster films like “Masseuse” and the “Ribald Tales of Canterbury” among them. Hyapatia’s entry into porn came via her winning the Miss Nude World title in 1983 and also meeting her future husband porn director Bud Lee. Always outspoken Hyapatia was never afraid to say what was on her mind about women, sexism, politics, free speech, you name it, she never held back with her opinions. She was only in the business for 10 years and did a relatively small number of films, about 70. Still, Hyapatia Lee, who is a member of both the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame, is still one of the most popular, sought after stars to come from porn’s Golden Age. Today at 47, she is remarried and lives on the east coast completely removed from the adult and music industry raising two sons.

She only spent about 7 years in the porn film business, coming back for a couple of more years in the early 90’s, but they were memorable one for fans of Bunny Bleu. She began in the biz as a fluffer and then went on to do such films as “Little Girls Talk Dirty”, “Aerobisex Girls” and “Beverly Hills Exposed” in all Bunny did well over 150 films. Very petite, she had a very young look and was almost always cast as a teenager. When it came to being an actress, that she wasn’t, but when it came to being a sex performer, that she was and then some with a voracious appetite that made her sex scenes very special. Bunny left the business in 1989, but returned in 1992 with a new look, a surgically enhanced body and for the next year or so turned out some of the best work she’d done. Bunny Bleu is now 44, a member of the AVN Hall of Fame and where she is and what she is doing today is unclear.

FLASH BACK - WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Part 3 by Art Koch

                We are back once again with Part 3 in our series, this time with six of the most popular names to grace the adult screen in the 70’s, 80’s and beyond. Once again we want to thank you for the comments and e-mails you have sent along, not only about this series, but all of the different articles I have entered in this space. I thank you all for that and hope you will continue to let us hear from you with your ideas, suggestions, questions and comments.



                One of the first really true superstars of porn in the 1970’s was a former nurse’s aide from San Francisco, Annette Haven. >From the very beginning Annette was a major fan favorite and her popularity still abounds today some 30 plus years later. Her first film was back in 1973, “Lady Freaks”, and from that point on Annette went one to make many memorable award worthy films in her career including the 1976 classic “Autobiography of A Flea”. One thing Annette had was class and a very discerning taste in men for her movies and also very selective when it came to content. She was also opposed to violence, facials or bondage and would refuse those scenes. A member of the AVN and XRCO Hall of Fame, Annette retired from adult films in the late ‘80’s. She did do some mainstream including the movie “10”, turned down a big role in “The Howling” because of the violence, lost out to Melanie Griffith for the role in “Body Double”, but was a consultant and advisor on the film. Today, in her 50’s, Annette is very happily married and lives in Marin County, California.

                Another name from the early days of porn that had an impact was the long dark haired exotic beauty Tina Russell. She married a photographer from her hometown of Williamsport, Pa. and they went to New York and immediately got into the porn business. First doing 8mm loops that were show in the peep shows around Times Square. >From that they went into regular full length porn flicks like “A Touch Of Genie”, “Time For Love”, “Campus Girls”, “Deep Throat II” and many more. For the most part Tina and her husband Jason worked together exclusively and became known as “The First Family of Fuck Films”. Tina worked with all of the top stars from the period but in 1980 dropped out of the business. Her husband’s affair with another porn star was a big reason for her leaving at a time her porn career was in high gear. In May of ’81 Tina was in San Diego visiting her brother and died suddenly of renal failure at the age of 33. Tina Russell was posthumously inducted into the XRCO Hall of Fame in 1985.

                Today the MILF styled porn is big business, but the very first to explore the MILF scene was a very mature blonde named Kitty Foxx. If there was ever someone in porn who deserved a mainstream movie done of her life it’s Kitty. She came from Illinois and after college in 1964 she married and stayed married to her husband Arthur until he passed away in 2005. They moved Las Vegas after marrying and by profession Kitty was a beautician. However everything change in 1983 when she went to work as a topless showgirl on the Strip. At almost 30 she did a nude layout in a men’s magazine and then was asked about doing porn. Kitty and her husband were in the swinging lifestyle, so do films was a natural. From that film came a long career making films with older women. She also became publisher of “Over 50” magazine and her films, especially the “Aged To Perfection” series were always big sellers. Kitty continued to perform in films until her husband’s death. A year later the industry and her fans lost Kitty to an aneurysm and complications from a stroke in 2006. Kitty Foxx was 66 years old.

                A member of the Hall of Fame, Samantha Fox did over 100 adult films between her debut in 1977 and her last effort in 1984 when she got out of porn. Going by her birth name she went into the sexploitation field of films but didn’t have near the success and popularity she had in porn where she had won two Best Actress awards during her time in porn. Samantha attended Sarah Lawrence College and was sexually active at a very young age. After college she came to New York and did nude modeling that led to her entry into porn. She was very talented young lady sexually and otherwise and is best known for her explosive roles in “Lady Is A Tramp” and “Jack n’ Jill Pt. 1”, but she also very outspoken and critical of the industry that gave her a good living. She and former porn stud Bobby Astyr lived together in New York right up until Astyr’s passing from cancer in 2002. Last report Samantha, now 56 was still living in the New York area.

                From her beginning in 1980 until she left the industry around 1988, the name Bridgette Monet was one of the most popular names in porn. With long dark hair, full natural breasts and almost six foot tall, she was a very inviting picture of sexuality and femininity. Her talents in the sex department, especially her oral skills, were hard to beat. Like many back then she began by doing nude modeling and then got into porn via the Swedish Erotica series. She became an instant star and fan favorite through her film “I Like To Watch”. She was also one of the stars in the first all girl feature, Girls Love Girls in 1984. her immense popularity got her a spread in the March 1984 issue of Playboy magazine. After retiring from adult Bridgette attended California State U. to study medicine. Today, at 49, she lives in San Diego, is following her new career and raising a family.

                She began as a mainstream actress in the early 70’s but with little success. However, the world of porn films gave Desiree Cousteau plenty of fame and popularity. Coming from Savannah, Georgia, Desiree was one of the most popular and talented porn actresses in the business from the mid 70’s through the late 80’s. In 1978 she won a Best Actress award for her role in the now classic, “Pretty Peaches” and did well over 100 films in career. One of Desiree’s problems was always fighting her weight, but even with a few extra pounds, her face and body were still among the best in the business. While most of the characters she played in films were on the ditzy side, Desiree was anything but. When she got out of the adult film business she never looked back. She went back to her home in Savannah, went to college, got her degree and today, at 53, she is a very successful child psychologist in Savannah.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Part 2 by Art Koch

                I’m back with several more of the biggest names from the Golden Age of Porn and to let you porn fans know “Where they are now”! I thank those who took time to drop me an e-mail enjoying this series and hearing about what some of their favs from yesteryear are doing today.

                As long as we continue to get comments and e-mails about this series we will continue to search out the great names of porn’s popularity in the 70’s and 80’s, so stay tuned and hopefully one of your past favorites will turn up here.

     One of the top female stars of the 80’s was the athletically built Erica Boyer. The daughter of a former Attorney General of Alabama, Erica made over 200 films, the majority in which she only did girl/girl scenes some of them among the most memorable and hottest on film. Still she was a big hit with males as well as females and worked with some of the best during her time in the porn spotlight. A member of the Adult Hall of Fame, she is considered by many among the top 25 important adult stars of all time. After retiring from adult films in 1994, she spent some time on the road as a feature dancer and then got out of the business all together. Today Erica, now 52, has settled down in Dallas, Texas and is a licensed massage therapist.

                This tall New Jerseyite did off Broadway, soap operas and even a stint with the Martha Graham dance troupe before coming into porn at 17. Sharon Mitchell made an immediate impact with her butch like look, her skill at oral and her talent as an actress. In a career than spanned 23 years, Ms. Mitchell mad over 2000 films, among them “Barbara Broadcast”, “Be Careful What You Wish For”, “Night Hunger” and others that have become classics. Ms. Mitchell also fought a long drug habit that she finally kicked. But as a performer she was always in demand because she could do any type film or sex act. The 52 year old Ms. Mitchell is a member of the AVN Hall of Fame, the XRCO Hall of Fame and the Legends of Erotica Hall of Fame. If it had to do with the adult industry Sharon has done it, including directing some films. Today Ms. Mitchell is totally retired from performing but since 1998 has been the creator and director of AIM (Adult Industry Medical Health Foundation).

                Another one of the top names of the 80’s was a dark haired beauty born and bred in Las Vegas and who holds a degree from UNLV, Veronica Hart. An accident with a coffee urn that scarred one side of her body turned Veronica to porn and in the 5 years that she was active she appeared in some fantastic films like “Amanda By Night”, “The Scent of Heather”, “Nylon”, “Roommates” and others. While her stay in front of the camera was relatively short it was also memorable and today veronica can still draw a crowd. After she stopped performing sex scenes, she turned into one of the top female directors in porn and producers winning a number of awards as a director as she did as a performer. Among her mainstream credits, Veronica appeared in the TV show “Six Feet Under” and in the movies “Boogie Nights” and “Magnolia”. Today, married with two teenage sons Veronica, a member of both the AVN and XRCO Hall of Fame, still appears in select films in non sex roles and is still directing a producing some wonderful films.

                She didn’t appear in porn until the early-mid 90’s, but Asia Carrera certainly belongs in this list of past greats. It’s not only because of what she contributed to the world of porn, but all of her other accomplishments before, during and after porn. Originally from New Jersey, Asia has accomplished things no other porn star has. She is an accomplished classical pianist and appeared, as a teen, at Carnegie Hall and she is also an honored member of MENSA. She also taught English at a college in Japan and attended Rutgers University on a full academic scholarship. The perfect example of beauty and brains, Asia’s entry into porn came in 1993 after dancing in a few go go clubs in Jersey. She was signed by Vivid and after the contract ended, worked for several companies and did more than 350 films. Asia always had a hand in the music, storylines and production of her films. After a divorce, she married in 2003, retired from adult and moved to Utah, where she still lives. Her husband was killed in a car accident in 2006 and today Asia lives a quiet life of a single mother to her two children.

                In the late 1970’s a a busty, dark haired gal from Brooklyn with unbelievable oral skills came on the scene. Her name was Little Oral Annie. She only made about 35-40 movies, but in a near ten year span she gained a huge following because of her oral skills in her films. She appeared and was featured in “Aunt Peg Goes to Hollywood”, “I like to Watch”, “Oral Annie Takes Manhattan” and others. She was also into the fetish side and also did some straight out fetish bondage film shorts taking both the dominant and submissive roles. She left the adult film business in 1987. She is also the granddaughter of the founder of Parducci Wines in California. Today, Andrea at 48, is married to a musician , has two children and lives a very content life in southern California.

                In the mid 70’s not only were porn movies popular, but disco was all the rage. Both of those elements come into play with Andrea True, who enjoyed both a successful porn career and recording career. The sexy redhead came to New York from Nashville to pursue an acting career. She got a few small roles, nothing looked good so she turned to porn and quickly became a favorite of porn directors and actors in New York. While making porn and displaying her sexual skills, she was asked to do a commercial by a real estate company in Jamaica. While she was there she recorded her first big hit “More, More, More”. Her porn career would come to an end when her record hit #4 nationally and her first album hit the top 40. “More, More, More” became one of the biggest disco hits of the era. However, because of a serious growth and surgery on her vocal chords Andrea’s singing career ended. She attempted a comeback in porn but in the 1980’s someone in their late 30’s was not wanted like they are today. But while her porn career was relatively short, Andrea True will always be remembered. Today, at 64, she is an astrologist and a counselor and living a very quiet life on the west coast of Florida.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? PART 1   By Art Koch
                I had a couple of other subjects I wanted to get into, but recently received a few e-mails wondering what happened to some of the porn stars of the past. So I decided that in this particular blog would address that subject. Hopefully we’ll be able to answer some of the queries by porn fans about some of the stars the remember from years past and the “Golden Age of Porn”.

                First there is Carol Connors who was best known for her roles in Deep Throat, Candy Goes To Hollywood and the Erotic Adventures of Candy among others. She retired from the adult film business in 1986. She still lives in Hollywood, is married and is the mother of actress Thora Birch who appeared in Clear and Present Danger, Hocus Pocus, Patriot Games and American Beauty and others. Carol and her husband Jack act as their daughters manager.



   We were asked what ever happened to Juliet Anderson, better known as “Aunt Peg”, Juliet was actually an accredited English teacher in Europe but after coming back the U.S. in the 70’s got into the porn industry at the age of 40! The “Aunt Peg” moniker came about from a throw away line in a threesome with her, Sharon Kane and John Holmes. In addition to the series of “Aunt Peg” films, she also appeared in Taboo 1 & 2, Talk Dirty to Me and others. In the mid 80’s Juliet went behind the cameras in production and eventually left the business. But in 1998 she created, produced and directed a hard core film, Ageless Desire that featured real life over 50’s couples as well as herself and her partner. Today at almost 70, Juliet is still a very sexy, attractive woman enjoying a good life in Burbank.

                The very first anal queen of porn and without doubt the very first Latin superstar of porn is none other than the fantastic Vanessa Del Rio. Coming out of Spanish Harlem in New York City, she broke into porn in 1974 as a way to raise rent money for the family. Still going strong in 1986, Vanessa decided the time had come to retire from films. She has done well over 200 in her career, won several awards and is a Hall of Fame member. These days Vanessa’s, who is now 56, adult website is one of the most popular on the net. Living in New York Vanessa still makes personal appearances at various adult functions around the country always drawing huge crowds.

One of the first porn actresses to also do mainstream films and TV at the same time was Ashlyn Gere one of porns most athletic and real performers. In porn she was one of the 90’s biggest stars with many awards and great films like Chameleons, Body and Soul, Ashlyn Gere Realities and many other titles especially for Vivid Films. In mainstream using the name Kimberly Patton she appeared in the series Space: Above and Beyond for 2 seasons, also Millennium and Silk Stalkings. She also appeared in a critically acclaimed episode of the X-Files under her Ashlyn Gere name. She retired from the adult film business in the mid 90’s. Now 49, Ashlyn moved to Texas with her husband and child and is now very involved in the real estate business.



   If you’re a porn aficionado from the early days you will definitely remember the dark haired and sexy Darby Lloyd Rains one of porn’s earliest stars. Always known for giving very enthusiastic, real sex scenes and being a very good straight actress Darby also did something unheard of in 1971. She was the first porn actress to appear in a major mainstream film when she had a role in The French Connection with Gene Hackman. Among her many films that showcased her talents were Naked Came A Stranger, Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann, French Kiss and Inside Georgina Spelvin. In 1980 she retired from the business and moved to the Midwest and has not had any connection with the industry since.

                Another name from the golden age you may remember is Rhonda Jo Petty. A California girl, Petty came into the business in 1978 and made a big name for herself in the film Little Orphan Dusty. Because of her looks and blonde hair she was promoted as a Farah Fawcett look-a-like. In addition to almost 500 films including the Blue Vanity series, Satisfaction, Candy Goes To Hollywood and others. Rhonda Jo was also very active on the dance club circuit for a number of years. Now 53 years old, Rhonda Jo retired from the adult film business in 1987. Today she is a happily married wife and mother of 4 living the good life of a suburban housewife.

            One of the classiest ladies to ever appear in porn was the British Beauty Kay Parker. Today at 63, Kay is still one of the most recognizable names from the Golden Age of Porn. She came into the adult film business in the late 70’s and her first film was Anthony Spinelli’s Sex World. With her beauty, class, maturity and that brit accent she became an instant star. But it was 1980 that really elevated her to superstar status with the release of the now classic film Taboo and the two sequels. Other than Taboo and it’s sequels Ms. Parker appeared in many others including Vista Valley PTA, Memphis Cathouse Blues, Downstairs Upstairs and more. Kay left the industry in the mid 80’s and had a few small bits in mainstream and then left the entertainment industry altogether. A member of the Hall of Fame, Kay never married and today she is a teacher and lecturer for New Age Metaphysical lifestyle.

AVN AWARDS IN LAS VEGAS by Art Koch

As the climax to the very successful AVN Adult Expo in Las Vegas, the industry magazine hosted it’s 25th Anniversary awards show at the Mandalay Beach Resort on the Vegas strip before a packed house of adult stars, mainstream stars and fans of adult entertainment. The show was hosted by Tera Patrick, and it was a slick, fast paced show that featured short acceptance speeches, glamorous and sexy gowns and well edited film clips of various stars performances. There was some sizzling entertainment provided by John Stagliano and his dance troupe from Fashionistas, complete with acrobats and more. It was definitely a Las Vegas style production from start to finish and a night the adult industry will remember for a long time. The entire awards show was videotaped to be shown on Showtime at a later date, which is a quite a coup for the adult industry.

As for the awards, once again the AVN awards mirrored our own NightMoves awards. A number of the big winners at the AVN awards show, were previously named winners in the some of the same categories or areas, at our NightMoves 15th Annual Adult Awards show just this past October. Adam & Eve contract star Bree Olsen, was named Best New Starlet at our show and repeated the honor at the AVN show. Our winner for the Triple Play award was Stormy Daniels and she also walked away with the Crossover award (basically the same) at the AVN’s. Eva Angelina won the Best Actress award at our show and was the recipient of the same honor at the AVN’s. In addition Hillary Scott, Barrett Blade, Eli Cross, Wicked Pictures and Digital Playground were also winners at our show and then at AVN’s as well. Whjen we see this happen year in and year out, it makes all of us here at NightMoves feel very proud and honored that so many major stars who have won their very first award at our show, have gone on to big stardom and other major awards in the industry. It’s always nice to see their success, but knowing their very first award came from us at NightMoves and that we had a small part in that success is very special to both the stars and to us. In our 15 years of the adult awards show, 13 of which we have honored national performers, some of the names past and present, who have won their very first award in the industry at our show include Jenna Jameson, Alisha Klass, Serenity, Tera Patrick, Jesse Jane, Sunny Lane, Eva Angelina, and now the latest is the blonde and bubbly Bree Olsen.

While AVN may be the king of the adult awards shows, NightMoves is very proud of what it has accomplished in the 18 years of the magazine and 15 years of doing our awards show. From the very first show til now, it is the only awards show in the industry that our winners are chosen strictly by the fans ballot. It has always been important to us that the fans of adult and readers of NightMoves have a voice in who the best of the best are. In addition to those chosen by the fans the staff at NightMoves also selects Editor’s Choice awards along with several special awards. Add to that the 3-4 days of parties, special events and fun times we line up for the stars and it is no wonder why we are able to have the ‘best of the best" here every year for what many stars consider a great "working vacation" for five days!!

So be ready for the 16th Annual NightMoves Adult Entertainment Awards Show coming your way Oct. 8 – 13, 2008. WHAT’S IN STORE FOR 2008?

                First of all, I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New Year’s holiday and that you all played safe and smart during the holidays. It is the most dangerous time of the year on the roads so I hope all went well.

                So what do fans of adult entertainment have in store for them in this coming New Year? Obviously there will be the usual wide array of new adult films, adult toys, sexy lingerie at upscale adult stores, as well as places like Target, Kohls, and even in Wal Marts! There will also be na lot of changes with gentlemen’s dance clubs, both in new clubs opening and other clubs changing management and redesigning and upscaling their clubs. It will be a year in various parts of the country where lawmakers will try, under pressure from the religious right, to change laws concerning anything adult. But it will also be a year where some states and municipalities will become more lenient regarding adult rather than fight costly court cases and lose.

                In the world of adult films/DVD’s there will be plenty of new faces and names coming along as always. Some of these names will be here today, gone tomorrow, but there will be a host of names that will be around for some time. There will be a few that will make a huge impact with both the looks and the talent. There will be new video companies and there will be a lot of carryover in regards to type and style of videos that have become popular in the past year such as various MILF series. I think we can also expect see a lot more Latin type adult videos coming on the market. We can also expect a lot more bigger budget features with storylines, plots, acting and hot sex. The industry is well aware that the adult video buying public has become older, more mature and also a lot more women shopping for videos as well as toys and other adult items.

                Personally I also see 2008 as a breakthrough year where mainstream will open up a lot more to adult stars and realizing two things about many of them. That some can really act and that they can be a box office draw because of their popularity. I think the days of some adult stars having walk ons with no lines, or just being a background piece in a scene, will slowly fade away and some of these stars with real acting talent will begin to get their shots in films and TV. The fact that a lot of adult stars mix and mingle with big name mainstream stars of movies and TV at various ceremonies and events is another foot in a door that had previously been locked tight. While it is not wide open as yet, it has been opened and those who have the mainstream potential will walk through that door.

                Overall I see 2008 as a year in the adult industry to be a very good one as the numbers continue to grow in dollars and cents. However, along with that I do see some struggles, more on a local level than national. There will be towns trying to pass laws to eliminate anything having to do with adult entertainment and it will be a costly battle on both sides. With elections coming, now is your chance to vote the right way and prevent another of your freedoms and rights being taken away from you. This is going to be a very key and important year for the adult industry on many fronts, just as it will be for the entire future of this country.

ARE PORN AND MAINSTREAM FINALLY COMING TOGETHER?

                For years the people who run mainstream Hollywood as far as films and TV are concerned have distanced themselves from the world of porn, For years they had a fairly legitimate argument because of the sleaze factor that was associated with most, if not all, porn. However, in the late 80’s and early 90’s things began to change in the porn world. No longer was it all back alley, pick girls up off the street for a quick buck kind of business. More and more companies became corporations, moving into attractive office buildings and complexes. Basically, the business, thanks to companies like Vivid, VCA and Wicked taking the lead, began to legitimize so to speak. With that some of the people in mainstream Hollywood began to take notice and realize that some adult stars did have drawing power and potential in the mainstream world. Of course the most notable of those back then and still today, is Ron Jeremy. Ron has been in adult since 1976, done over 2,000 adult films, but became somewhat of an icon among the mainstream crowd. Ron has done dozens of small roles in mainstream films, music videos, books, TV shows all with great popularity, while still maintaining his place in adult. It can truthfully be said that Ron Jeremy was the one to open the door for adult stars to get their shot at mainstream films, music videos and TV. One other little tidbit from that era concerning one of porn’s all time classics, “The Devil In Miss Jones”. Georgina Spelvin, the female star was an accomplished dancer and singer appearing on Broadway in Pajama Game, Guys and Dolls and was Gwen Verdon’s understudy in Sweet Charity before moving into porn in 1973.

                Back in 1994 in the second season of the highly popular “X-Files”, the show took a chance by signing Vivid Girl porn star Ashlyn Gere to a featured role in an episode titled “Blood” in which she played a killer. Her performance was met with critical acclaim and she proved in that show that she could act and do more than just have sex in front of a camera. Fact is that role led Ashlyn into making several appearances on two Fox shows, “Space: Above and Beyond” and “Millennium”. In 2003 NBC-TV had a political show “Mr. Sperling” about a young senator, starring Josh Brolin. The ratings were near the bottom and NBC signed adult superstar Jenna Jameson to have a recurring role as the girlfriend. On the episode that Jenna first appeared, NBC enjoyed their highest rating for that night in 5 years!

                In films, mainstream has used adult stars in minimal roles from time to time, giving the either one or two lines, or no lines at all and just a walk on or having a video of them on in the background. But with the 1997 film “Boogie Nights”, a thinly disguised bio of John Holmes, with Mark Wahlberg, some of porn’s big names were an integral part of the film, Nina Hartley, Veronica Hart, Tony Tedeschi, Skye Blue, Summer Cummings, Lexi Liegh and the consultant for the film, none other than Ron Jeremy. While it was a breakthrough for the adult industry as far as performers getting a mainstream shot, it did not lead to a lot of future mainstream work. Even though they saw how professional, how talented acting wise these stars were it was still that “ooooooh, but they do porn” mentality. Longtime porn star Ginger Lynn left adult for a few years to try her hand at mainstream with mixed results. Not because she didn’t have acting talent, but once again that porn label hung over her.

                However, things have slowly begun to change in the past few years in various areas of mainstream. Adult star Gina Lynn made several appearances on the hit series the “Sopranos” and she also was a prominent feature in Eminem’s #1 rated music video and in the last year Gina has also entered the world of Monster Trucks. Wicked’s number one star, Stormy Daniels has appeared in the hit film “The 40 Year Old Virgin” and others and also had a recurring role in the Courtney Cox TV series “Dirt”. Of course a lot of adult stars have appeared on various talk shows, but is in the area of mainstream movies and TV series that some of today’s male and female stars deserve to get their shot. While some fans of adult may be surprised that a number of these performers can really act and carry a scene, trust me when I tell you that Hollywood producers and directors are not. They know there is some very top notch acting talent in the adult ranks, but it will take some movie producer with brass balls to buck the trend and give one of these adult stars a lot more than a walk on role. I truly believe that once that breakthrough happens, it will open things much more in both adult and mainstream. If you see the big hit film “I Am Legend” with Will Smith, be sure to pay attention to the scene where he is in a video store with some mannequins. All of the videos on the shelves in the scene are adult films from Wicked Pictures! Now that is what you call product placement, and no one made them change the scene or delete it!

                I have been saying for the past few years that within 5 years the blending of adult and mainstream will become more pronounced and porn stars will be doing more mainstream films and TV. I still stick with that statement and even though it’s slow, it is beginning to happen. I can assure you that there are a lot of mainstream people from directors to producers to performers who have their fingers in the adult pie in some fashion. It’s no secret that some mainstream companies that do special effects for the big films, have also done them for big adult productions under another name. The day is not far away when it will be a lot more common to see adult stars on TV series, mainstream films, music videos and a lot more.

                The simple fact is that there are a number of top name stars, male and female, that are accomplished actors and were in mainstream acting before turning to porn for a number of reasons like the writers strike back in the 80’s that put a lot people out of work, or a Broadway bound production closing on the road and suddenly no job or a recording career that went south because of bad management. So, some turned to adult and have turned it into a very lucrative career, but never giving up their dream of making it in mainstream, like the one male star who stars in legit Broadway musicals and shows for a local theater group when he isn’t doing porn. It will happen folks, and when it does, there will be a lot of surprised looks when they see the depth of acting talent some of these adult stars have.

First of all, let me assure you that I am not going to turn this column into an advertisement for various adult video/toy stores. This will be more of an overview and suggestions on how to make a part of your Christmas gift giving for your wife or husband a little more exciting, different and fun. If you think that giving a loved one something adult for Christmas is a little strange, forget it. Like the major department stores, adult store also do a very very big business during the holidays with folks finding a variety of gift ideas at their favorite adult store.

Store owners have finally come to realize that one, their customer base has gotten older, two, more couples are visiting adult stores and three, the number of females coming solo or with other ladyfriends has increased dramatically. Because of that, change was, and is, necessary and adult stores from coast to coast have been undergoing these changes from sleazy to upscale over the past couple of years and it will continue. It will make these places a much better and safer place to shop and it will attract a better, more upscale, clientele with the discretionary money to spend on various adult products.

So with Christmas just a couple of weeks away, check out some of the better adult stores in the area and go find that fun item as an extra Christmas present for him or for her. Whether it’s lingerie, oils, toys, DVDs, games or whatever strikes your fancy, I can guarantee your lover will enjoy finding something in their Christmas stocking or under the Christmas tree. Maybe there has been a particular toy, or some oils or something you have talked about, but never got around to getting. The quick, one word answer would simply be......NO! But along with that one word answer still comes a lot of questions and wondering. THE 15TH ANNUAL NIGHTMOVES ADULT ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS SHOW by Art Koch

Hard to believe we just put on our 15th Annual Awards Show, with almost four dozen adult films stars in town. It seems just like yesterday that we began this phenomenon here in Tampa. But as the old cigarette slogan said, "We’ve come a long way baby!" We have grown from a short 2 1/2 hour one night event with two adult stars, Ron Jeremy and Kelly O’Dell, a couple of local entertainers and 10 local awards into a full blown 5 day event filled with more than 40 adult films stars, parties, appearances and with more than 35 awards given locally and nationally. Not to mention the media attention our show now gets locally and nationally by way of radio, TV, trade publications, magazines and newspapers.

It has been quite a ride over these 15 shows changing and tweaking the format to make it more accessible to the adult fans. Also to find the right venues of non adult dance clubs throughout Tampa Bay to hold our awards show over the years. That very first show back in 1993 was held at Stinger’s Nightclub in Tampa. We held it another year at a club no longer around, Hammerjax in Tampa, then for several years we were at The Krush in Tampa. We moved across the bay to Clearwater and for a few years had the show at Stormans Palace in Clearwater, then one year at the Pinellas Convention center in Pinellas Park and the past 3 years we have been at a great venue, Bricktown 54 in Clearwater.

But through it all our awards show has not only grown to be one of the biggest events in Tampa Bay, but our show has become the second largest adult entertainment awards show in the entire adult industry with only the AVN show in Las Vegas every January topping ours! In these 15 years we have had a "who’s who" of adult film stars appear at our show, many coming back more than once because of the fans and the great time they had. Not too bad for something, that back in 1993, many local adult business owners said couldn’t be done and would be a colossal failure!

Over the years not only have we brought in the top stars and new starlets and up and coming stars, we are also very proud of the fact that many stars have won their very first award in the adult industry at our NightMoves show, including two of the biggest names in adult films in the past 15 years, Jenna Jameson and Tera Patrick. Others who have won their very first award in the business at our show include Serenity, Jesse Jane and Sunny Lane. As I said, the list of names that have appeared at our show each year and the names, other than those just mentioned, that have won awards at our show is a "who’s who" of adult. We are also proud of the fact that every single year since that first small show, Mr. Porn, The Hedgehog, Ron Jeremy, has been here 15 straight years as an emcee, co host, performer! Plus just about every major female and male star in porn over the past 15 years, it just doesn’t get much better than that for us at NightMoves or for the porn fans of Tampa Bay!

This year’s show weekend was no exception with great crowds on hand for the signings and appearances at Club Oz in Clearwater, Foxy’s in New Port Richey, Extasy in Holiday and the Tampa Gold Club in Tampa, that gave fans a chance to get up close and personal with their favorite stars. It was wild, crazy and nothing but fun with all these terrific girls and guys. Then there were the various radio shows that many of the stars did in Tampa Bay during their stay. I was privileged to take superstar Gina Lynn and Travis Knight to do the "Bubba The Love Sponge", which was only supposed to be a half hour but wound up being over an hour. Then to have superstar Jesse Jane join the show and it really did get wild with dildos, body painting and a lot more. Hey, this is Bubba the Love Sponge remember!!!

As for the night of the awards show, it was a great night from the time the stars arrived on the red carpet, did interviews, gave a horde of photographers plenty of photo ops and then went into the club to get ready for a night of awards and entertainment with a packed house on hand to enjoy all the festivities, and did they ever!. The list of stars is too long to mention but it was headed up by superstars like Stormy Daniels, Gina Lynn, Jesse Jane, Carmen Luvana, Kylie Ireland, Eva Angelina, Sunny Lane, Trina Michaels, and many more. For the ladies there was Marco Banderas, Marcus London, Travis Knight, Sean Michaels, Barrett Blade, Eric Masterson and Ron Jeremy, plus more, giving us almost 4 dozen adult stars in town for this jam packed weekend! On the show there were live dance performances by several adult stars, a fetish performance and some great good ole rock and roll music with a twist provided by one of the best rock and roll bands I have ever heard in all the years I spent in the music and radio business, the Dive Bar Stalkers. There were also the awards both locally and nationally voted on by you, the fans and readers of NightMoves, as well as some special awards that were selected by the staff of NightMoves. At the end of the show, all of the stars, some of our staff including this writer, and some fans were all on stage dancing up a storm to the great music by this fantastic band. I thought I might need CPR when it was over, but I managed okay!! Now we all get ready to start preparations for next year’s 16th annual and I can assure you that it will be even bigger, better and with many new things added for the fans enjoyment and pleasure. Welcome to my blog, a new weekly addition to the NightMoves website. I hope you will find it entertaining, informative and interesting. I have been the National Features and Adult Video/DVD Editor for NightMoves since it’s inception in 1991, so I have a pretty good feel for, and about, the adult film industry. I am also a fan and go back to the "Golden Age" in the 70’s with names like Tina Russell, Lisa De Leuuw, Linda Lovelace, Goergina Spelvin, Andrea True, Kay Parker, Eric Edwards, Richard Pacheco, Jerry Butler, John Holmes, Marilyn Chambers and a much thinner Ron Jeremy!

In my weekly blog I will also pose a question or two for the readers and would love to hear your responses to those questions, so I hope you will be active with us. It’s always great to get the feelings and opinions of fans whether it’s porn, sports, mainstream movies, TV, music or whatever. We can always learn a little something from what the viewing and playing public think about various entrtainment arenas.

Over the past several months and the hundreds of DVD’s I have looked at, reviewed or rejected I have noticed something with several companies. It’s nothing really new for most of them, but it has just gotten better with other companies. I’m talking about the production values companies are putting into their product. Even those who do the wall to wall or gonzo type, the kind with no storyline, fancy sets, special effects, just flat out sucking and fucking from the first frame to the last, have, for the most part improved their product. But companies who pretty much specialize in the more "couples oriented" product with a real storyline, acting, full cast, top quality sets, special effects where needed, locales and above all, bigger $$$ budgets have really raised the bar over the past year or two. We all know about the huge success of "Pirates" from last year and the film still hasn’t slowed down. When all is said and done not only is this the most awarded film in porn history, it will be the biggest grossing adult film of all time. It was also the only adult film in history, after Digital Playground edited the hardcorse scenes to softcore, to be given an R rating MPAA so it could play in regular theaters and even in it’s R form gained a lot of success, not to mention opening more people to top quality porn. The film was so good in both the Triple X and R versions that for many it was the first porn film they had ever seen and won’t be the last. Although porn has been around since the early 1900’s it really gained a foothold with mass audiencesa in the early and mid 70’s. Today’s resurgence is reminiscent of when "Deep Throat" hit the theaters, created a hailstorm of controversy, but became the most watched, biggest grossing adult film of all time until "Pirates" came along.

I can remember living back in New Jersey then and my late wife and I and another couple going to a local movie theater in Sayreville, a regular first run theater, that had brought in Deep Throat for a Friday and Saturday showing. There were the protesters out there of course, and we had a problem finding a place to park in a jam packed parking lot and the line waiting to buy tickets to see this groundbreaking porn flick seemed like it was a mile long, and it was like that both nights!!! The surprising, well maybe not so surprising, thing was the people waiting line to see the film were of every age and description, people in their 20’s to people in their 60’s! Funny thing is I still remember leaving that theater and it wass ther couples in thier 20’s and 30’s that were blushing or embarrassed, those in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s weren’t!

There is always going to be segment of porn lovers who don’t like porn with storylines, acting, etc. and prefer the typical suck and fuck from start to finish or other varieties such as interracial, all girl, bisexual, fetish, etc. That’s fine, adult film enjoyment should be a wide variety of sexual pleasures and styles to suit everyone. However, there is a growing population of people out there, predominantly 45 years of age and older right into their 60’s, who are discovering porn for the first time and enjoying it. Along with many newly married couples, the more mature couples are the ones who want to see a regular movie with a storyline, good production and real sex scenes. It seems to be a growing trend in adult now as several companies, who had not been into the "storyline, plot, acting, big budget" type productions are doing it now, and with great success. A prime example is the much awarded "Corruption" by Sex Z Pictures, This was their first attempt at a big budget, full blown major production and it has paid off handsomely for the actors and the company already garnering as number of major awards and has become a major hit with the adult buying/renting public.

The success of ‘Pirates" has spawned "Pirates 2" and Digital Playground is expecting it to be as big a hit as the original. There is also the big budget, highly anticipated film from Wicked Pictures, "Operation Stormy" reportedly the biggest budgeted film Wicked has done to date. From what I have heard and know, this film has a great story, lots of action, plot, effects and very steamy sex scenes. And there are more of these big budget adult features in production.

As one who has reviewed the adult film product for NightMoves since 1992 I have seen quite an evolution of product, style, talent, barriers being broken, trends that come and go, trends that seem to stay. Through it all there has been, as there always is, a lot of the good, bad and ugly as far as product that has been made available to the porn buying and renting public. But I can honestly say in all these years, that the greater majority of product and talent has fallen into the good category and helped to create not only a multi billion dollar industry, but a whole new viewing audience of adult fare of every age and sexual preference and it will only keep getting better and better.

We said in the beginning that each week on this blog we’d throw out a couple of questions and we want to hear your responses and what you think. So here is what we have for you this week:

THE NEW MOVEMENT IN SWINGING

While the swinging lifestyle, which has been around since the 1950’s, is not a part of the adult industry, there is an umbrella effect. That being that a majority of swingers are very much into porn. They use it as a way of entertainment, getting turned on, in swing clubs as a background for the activities that take place and many swingers enjoy porn alone in the privacy of their home. So while swinging is a lifestyle and not an industry like the adult film business, there is a definite connection with these two part of Americana.

As we said, swinging began back in the 1950’s when consenting adults got tired of being told what was right or wrong to enjoy sexually and couples began to go against the norm and discover new and exciting ways of their sexuality and learning new things in the process. It started out very secretly with private get togethers in private homes among a few couples in what became known as "key clubs". Word began to spread about these "key clubs" and more and more adults, the majority of them young, mobile, financially secure and emotionally secure, became part of this new swinging lifestyle. When the 60’s came along and the time "make love, not war" while the hippies were expressing their "free love’ Attitude, the swinging lifestyle began to pick up steam all over the country and began to gain a foothold with ‘Mr. and Mrs. Average American" with more and more consenting adults, again mostly in the 20’s and 30’s age range, coming into this lifestyle that was never really advertised, was more word of mouth and kept very discreet. There was no way you would ever know that the prim and proper neighbors next door were swingers, and that still hold true to this day. There is just absolutely no way you can tell who is, and who isn’t, in the lifestyle it is a virtual impossibility.

In the 70’s and 80’s a couple of things happened within the lifestyle, not only were the people involved well over a million, today in 2007, the estimate is over 6 million people are part of the lifestyle in the U.S., but there were magazines devoted to the lifestyle with ads to contact other swingers and swinger’s clubs began to open, large and small all over the country in just about every state. They ranges from the very upscale on premise clubs like Plato’s Retreat, to the small, local off premise swing clubs in places like Edison, N.J., Tampa, Fl., Dayton, O., Houston, Tx. etc. Eventually more of the bigger, private my membership only on premise swing clubs began to open all over the country and today there are in the neighborhood of over 4,000 swingers clubs, large and small all over the U.S. and in every one of the 50 states! Also by the 80’s and into the 90’s another change was taking place and that was the age range. For the most part, couples and single in their 20’s virtually disappeared from the swing scene being replaced now by more mature people in their 40’s looking to expand their lives sexually and make new friends along the way.

Then came the new century and once again a new and explosive increase of couples, singles and clubs coming into the swing scene. Of course by now the internet was a huge part of the swing scene with swingers, and swinger clubs site, popping up all over and gaining very large memberships. There was, and is, an organization NASCA, the North American Swingers Club Association. There were yearly swinger conventions popping up in Las Vegas, Miami and the very popular Hedonism I, II and III in Jamaica, all attended by thousands of every age and size either in the lifestyle or wanting to come into it. To this day these swinger conventions and gatherings continue to happen annually and can be found on many websites with info about them. People were finding out that this lifestyle is not just about sex but making new, everyday, lifelong friends that they can enjoy other things with, aside from the consensual sex. But the lifestyle has always been about more than the sexual pleasure, it has always been about the total friendship that develops with people and the sexual times are a bonus for everyone. It is also a lifestyle that has set rules of etiquette that are followed to a T or else a single, or couple, will quickly become persona non grata. It is also a lifestyle where there is no pressure to "play" and that you are encouraged to go at your own pace and comfort level and only indulge in those sex acts you are comfortable with and enjoy. Above all the number one rule has been, and always will be, "No means No!" The membership swing clubs today, for the most part, have come a long way in that they are classy, clean, up to date sound systems, lighting, food, beverages, decor, amenities, security on premises and basically a very safe and secure environment for any couple or female to go to any enjoy themselves.

However, a funny thing happened on the way to the swing clubs beginning about 2001-2002. One of them was the number of people in their late 40’s through early and mid 60’s that have come into the lifestyle everywhere. Fact is even adult video store owners will tell you that they have seen a huge increase in much older couples and women coming into their stores for films, toys, lotions, etc Now you can shake your head and laugh at what I am about to tell you, but I can honestly say, after talking with many couples new to the swinging lifestyle, some swing club owners and adult store owners there is a lot of truth to it here in Florida and Tampa Bay and I am sure all over the country as a reason so many older people have suddenly come into the lifestyle. That reason is Sept. 11, 2001 It’s not the only reason, of course, but it has become a major factor for these older, vital, sexy people joining the lifestyle and wanting to live their lives to the fullest in their older years. Let’s be honest, swinging sure as hell beats playing shuffleboard!!

Bottom line here, if you are a couple or female in your 50’s or 60’s and still have that desire and want to find a new fun way of expressing it, living out fantasies and making some great friends, then the lifestyle could be your calling card. No longer do you have to worry about your age being against you. Enjoy yourselves, life is too short!

THE MILF PHENOMENON by Art Koch

Since the beginning of commercialized porn in the early 70’s there have always been certain theme types of porn that have come out to capture the porn lover’s eye and become very popular with the masses and lucrative to the companies producing them. There have been many girl/girl series, many oral only series, interracial series, Latin series, all anal series, legal teen series and the list goes on. Some have only done a few volum,es and others have done dozens and dozens of the same rheme. Now, in the last couple of years, another style has really grabbed the attention of porn fans of every age, the MILF series. For those not familiar, MILF stands for "Mothers I’d Like To F**k". The basic premise is the ladies are in their 30’s and maybe early 40’s and supposedly "real mothers" and want their shot at fame by sucking and screwing on camera, generally with younger studs.

This trend began a few years ago as something on a couple of adult pay porn sites and then graduated into full blown studio productions. Right now there are about a dozen different MILF titles and series available and it looks as though there will be more to come and this type of adult entertainment will be around for awhile. However, I am hoping in the future the adult film companies will make one change in these MILF productions. A change that will benefit many viewers, the companies and the stores that sell adult product. I will get to that change further down in this column.

One reason for the popularity of MILF product is the plain and simple fact that the customer base at adult stores buying videos, toys, lotions, lingerie, etc. has matured and gotten older. It is not uncommon today to go into any adult store and see couples and women in their 50’s and 60’s spending money on videos, toys and whatever else strikes their fancy. Sexually, things have changed over the past few years for many, many people 50 and over and one of the reasons, as we have alluded to in a previous column, was 9-11. That unfortunate terrorist attack on the U.S. changed people’s perception about many things in their life as it quickly became painfully clear that life is too short and could be over in a heartbeat. So along with other changes in their lives, millions of people have made a radical change in their sex lives as well. Consequently, adult videos began to sell in record numbers, many adult stores began to upgrade their appearance into more upscale and fashionable stores and more and more older, mature customers began to shop in these stores. All of it leading to the quick popularity of the MILF type videos. Granted some of these "real mothers" in many of the videos are playing a role and are seasoned porn performers. Oh, there are some true to life "amateur" real mothers who appear in these different series, but the majority of these 30 something ladies are veteran porn performers. Still, that being said, there is no question people of all ages are enjoying the MILF product and are eager for new titles when they are released. Much of these videos are well done with nice set ups and some very hot scenes proving that someone in their late 30’s, early forties can be just as sexual and hot as someone 21 or 22. I just reviewed one called "MILF Riders" by Sizzle Entertainment and Adam and Eve that has a couple of ladies in their 40’s and one very young guy who does every scene and it smokes! A couple of the ladies were obviously not porn stars but willing to go on camera and they were excellent. Which brings me to the point of the one change I would like to see adult companies do as they continue with the MILF category.

With the adult video and toy buyers being older and seeking more video product they can relate to in regards to age, shape, etc. I would love to see one or two of the companies who are producing the MILF series, do some with ladies in their 40’s and 50’s and even some BBW’s. One thing I constantly hear from older couples about adult videos of today is they are good, the sex is hot, but they can’t, at their older age, connect with girls 22-23. One couple in their late 50’s said to me, "We only discovered porn a couple of years ago and fun sex, but everytime we look at one, because of the age, it’s like seeing our daughters!" I understand exactly what they mean, the sex is great, a turn on, but you lose that connection because of the age. It’ something I hear a lot from older couples in the swinging lifestyle. I would be willing to bet that if the adult film companies did a little research they would find a huge audience out there for older performers. As for an MILF video with older women or BBWs (who happen to be very popular with more men than you might think) I truly believe the companies, if they put out a "casting call" would be very surprised by the response they would get from real, true MILF amateurs eager to be on camera. Personally, I think it would be worth some companies time and effort to bring this older and just as sexy age group into the MILF fold.

With MILF so popular companies have done them in a variety of themes. They have done interracial, they have done Latin and they have done all female. So why not one with BBWs or ladies in their 50’s? If they think it won’t seel or have appeal,, they are wrong because that older customer base that shops at adult stores today would snap something like that up because they can relate to it from an age standpoint among other pluses. In addition there are a ton of younger men who love older women and they would also be buying product like this. I know from talking to many people in the lifestyle who are in their 50’s and some wives are BBWs, that they would love to see that kind of product available and would buy it and enjoy it. The simple fact is it is not only the adult stores who are getting more and more older people 50 and older into their establishment, but the lifestyle has seen the same thing. The great majority of people coming into the lifestyle in the past couple years are 50 and older. With that said, I hope some of the adult companies who read my column will give the idea some thought. I truly believe they are missing one important niche in the MILF popularity.

OPERATION DESERT STORMY by Art Koch

Let me say right off that generally my blog is not to do a review of adult films, but to touch on various facets of the adult industry, lifestyles, etc. However, every once in awhile a film comes along that deserves a full review treatment because it is such a standout and has mega hit written all over it. Such is the case with Wicked Pictures "Operation Desert Stormy". My regular review appears in NightMoves magazine, but here I will go more into depth about this brilliant piece of adult filmmaking that is a must see adult film.

"Operation Desert Stormy" is unquestionably, to this writer who has been reviewing adult fare since the inception of NightMoves in 1992, the best adult sex comedy that has ever been produced Over the years there have been some very funny, enjoyable porn comedy films, Double Feature is one that was truly funny and comes to mind, but nothing ever done previously since I have been around compares to this one that is in a class all it’s own.

It all comes from the creative mind of Wicked contract star Stormy Daniels who not only stars in the film, but also created the idea, wrote the script and directed the film. Having been on a Stormy Daniels set in the past, I can assure you this busty blonde is a consummate pro both behind the camera, as well as in front of it, and definitely knows what she is doing when it comes to dealing with and directing a full cast and crew. This is one blonde beauty who is chock full of intelligence, knowledge and brains who knows what she wants and gets it. Stormy’s direction is well paced and she gets the most out of every scene and has a knack for subtlety. The cinematography was spot on throughout with great angles, long shots, closeups, etc. .Stormy should make some mainstream people take notice and I am sure they have and will. This is the type film that will get a lot of mainstream attention, both from the media and people, and make Ms. Daniels name even more visible to mainstream Hollywood than it already is through her previous television and film appearances.

Additionally, Ms. Daniels assembled a good sized cast and has them perfectly cast for the various roles in this sprawling film. Nothing was spared by Wicked Pictures to make this production the very best. The settings, the outdoor locales, the palace, costuming, special effects and the music all were perfectly put together to make this film one that is very award worthy in many areas, which we will get to later. The music and visuals that are done over the opening credits is very James Bond film like and extremely well done.

The film’s story is about a couple, Stormy and Steven St. Croix, who work for a government agency. To say their marriage isn’t working is an understatement. She is a secretary to the agency head honcho Agent X played by Randy Spears, and her husband is a less than efficient agent. When Agent X is supposedly killed while on a secret mission, Stormy and Steve head to the middle east and get involved with a couple of British agents to put an end to the main terrorist Hussein, who is played by Ron Jeremy. That is the basic story, but it is how it all unfolds from the very beginning scenes with Stormy and Steve to the end that make this somuch fun and enjoyable. The comedy at times will have you laughing so hard, you may have to go to rewind so you don’t miss anything. The chemistry works well and everyone in the supporting roles plays it both for seriousness and for laughs at the same time and it works. Once the story shifts to the middle east there is no lack of action and no lack of laughs either.

Of course there is plenty of sex, with eight scenes that cover everything from a dream scene with Stormy and Randy Spears, Steve getting "virtual" sex in the Operations lab to a six way orgy in the palace with the British agents and the harem girls, lucky guys!! There’s also a girl/girl that takes place in front of Jeremy’s character, a late night outdoor suck and screw with Randy and Kaylani Lei and there is more, including a love tryst between Stormy and Steve as they patch up their rocky marriage at the end. Hey, even a comedy has to have a happy ending doesn’t it? Needless to say the sex scenes are hot, steamy turn on quality and blend in well with the entire story.

Wicked has gone all out on this film with some great packaging and it is also a three disc set that includes some fantastic extras like extra sex scenes, bloopers, how the cast the film, how the film was made, interviews, training for the film, some who auditioned for the film and a lot more. The extras for this film are the most extensive this writer has seen and also the best put together to make this one of the best video packages to ever be released and should be a part of every adult film fan’s collection. This is one of those rare adult films people will always remember and not forget.

Congrats to Stormy Daniels, adult number one triple threat, and Wicked Pictures for having the vision to put this film together and bring adult fans the best adult comedy ever. That being said, the awards from various organizations better ge
